New Environment

Today, I got inspiration for a new environment. It is going to be a nightclub/restaurant/concert venue. Here's some renders of how I have it set-up for the layout. Obviously there's no lights or textures in the scene yet, or finished models for that matter. The only thing that's mostly roughed out is the stage.

Close up of the bar

This is an early view of what it will look like from the VIP tables in the restaurant half of the place. Should be a pretty sweet place to sit!

Let me know what you think!!

Washington DC Trip pics!!

So, this week we decided we wanted to go to Washington DC. It was Jess, our friend Kate, and myself. Kate will be doing an internship there so we wanted to make sure she got acquainted to the city and the Metro system. Well, we ended up being 100% tourists on Tuesday.

We left Pittsburgh Monday night about 5:15pm and got to DC about 10 pm. We decided we wanted to do a couple things before going to bed so we went in to town and checked out the Mall where you can walk around and look at the Capitol and Washington Monument all lit up all nice.

The next day we literally must have walked at least 20 miles. It was exhausting. Here's the typical shot of the White House.

Some cool random art.

"RAR."

Another beautiful shot of Jess smelling the flowers.

Really cool shot of a fountain at a castle.

After much more walking and Metro riding we checked out Ford's theatre.

There was a sweet wax museum again! Only this one was way better cuz they had THE MAN Sam Jackson.

Obama!

Beautiful sunset across the Tidal Basin.

Checkin out Thomas Jefferson

I love the sun hitting the monuments.

Good ol' Lincoln memorial.

Sweet reflection pool shot

The sun was setting at the perfect time that we were there. The clouds were leaving, too, so helped bring in some more blues and purples to help contrast the oranges the sun was leaving on the stone and the lights in the monuments casted.

All in all, another super fun trip! Now time to rest!

It's All Lies...

Well, by now you probably have heard me talking about how I was going to be working on a PS3 game with a company called Kaiser Himmel. It turns out that the man who owns the company has just been detained by the FBI for attempting to defraud a couple banks out of millions of dollars.

His real name is Eric Ashley Lemon, but I met him as Eric Skys. He came to my school to ask about recruiting students to work on his video game "Dead Factor." My school invited him out to portfolio review to check out student work and possibly interview some people. I was one of eight people he interviewed that day. Everyone got a weird vibe off of him. Start up video game companies don't usually have body guards at their side.

Well, anyways. This guy is a con artist. I'm glad that we found out about what he was doing before any of us signed contracts with them. I'm also glad that I haven't graduated yet and that there is another portfolio review at which I can possibly get a more reliable contact.

I guess that happens sometimes...

Here's an article if you want to read more about the situation.

Canada Trip Pictures!!

Jess and I went to Canada! We left my house in Beechview about 7pm and got there around 11pm. We made great time. There was hardly any traffic at all and we only had to stop for gas at the beginning because we were on empty. We had a blast! Here's some awesome pictures for you to look at.

This is the view of the falls. from our room at The Fallsview Plaza Hotel. A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

This is Jess in awe of the size of our room at said hotel.

Either Jess just fell through the roof and luckily landed on the bed, or she's just silly.

This amazing fountain is at the Fallsview Casino.

Here is a beautiful picture of my girlfriend! Oh, and the Niagara Falls...

We also did the Journey Behind The Falls! That was pretty cool. You could actually feel the water falling. They had a pathway in the rock under the falls with cutouts so you could see the falls from the back. It was cold and wet, but so amazing.

After looking at the Falls for a long time we walked up to Clifton Hill. Along the way there were some beautiful flowers and tons of photo op's.

On Clifton Hill, we decided to go to the wax museum!

Here's the Godfather. The man.

Oh no! The dinosaur that spits acid!

I was amazed at the lighting in this display of Freddy Kreuger. Just creepy as hell.

Tim Hortons. Enough said.

This is the American Falls. Meh.

If you ever go to Niagara Falls, you have to go to The Wild Mushroom. The people there were so awesome! They invited us back that night to watch the Penguins game with them. The guy behind Jess is Denis, the bartender/bouncer of The Wild Mushroom. Awesome guy.

This is the Skywheel. We rode that a couple times during the day.

This is the Skylon Tower. It has a revolving restaurant at the top!

At night, the Falls are lit by a bunch of super-bright spot lights that blast the Falls with different colors of light. It's absolutely amazing.

This is a picture of the spot lights. Holy crap bright.

In front of the Fallsview Casino

Probably by now you all have seen the Dramatic Look hamster or guinea pig or whatever that is. Just look at the picture. Hilarity ensues.
